1. Gemini Man

Henry is an ageing assassin who finds himself being chased by someone with the ability to predict his moves. He soon discovers that the person is his clone and sets out to discover his origin.

To me this not a dumpster fire as many people felt this as one. Story of Gemini Man is not that huge but still enjoyable and fun to watch. It has great action sequences.

The bike chase is my favorite. The chase scene felt like a fast-paced game of cat and mouse throughout a city.

The younger Will Smith trying to smack older Will Smith is hilarious and breathtaking at the same time. The whole Will Smith vs himself is actually cool and done well. Their second battle, in the catacombs underneath Budapest, is a much more intense hand to hand combat fight. The battle is brutal in a way most of the fights in the rest of the film aren’t, also kind of comical in the way it shot. Mary Elizabeth Winstead gets an intense fight which is cool.

This sequence plays out more like a moment from a Bourne film than it does anything else Ang Lee has directed. After the second fight between two heroes (actually the same hero) the movie fells flat. From then the movie lost it’s grip at least for me. I didn’t like the climax battle of heroes vs Black ops that much compare to rest of fights.

CGI in this is fine so far except when Junior Will Smith is seen under direct sunlight. Especially at the very end the CGI face of Junior is terrible as if the post production is rushed. Except that visual effects worked great in this movie.

Despite having a good cast this movie does not give much to perform. Still Will Smith gains attention with his usual charm because he is Will Smith. I enjoyed seeing Mary Elizabeth in an action movie like this. Benedict Wong is totally unutilized. Clive Owen is fine as a villain.

2. Late Night

An acclaimed late-night show host is forced to hire a female writer because of her decline in popularity. Soon, things go haywire when her personal emails are leaked.

Mindy Kaling wrote and co-stars in a sharp and sincere comedy about sexism in broadcasting in the era of #MeToo and social media Full review

3. Kung Fu Panda 3

The Dragon Warrior, Po, has to deal with challenges galore when circumstances compel him to train a bunch of awkward pandas in martial arts so that they can trounce Kai, a wicked supernatural warrior.

The animation is gorgeous and vividly hued — the panda village looks like a Chinese version of the Hobbit village crossed with Shangri La — and the humor is light, if sometimes a bit corny. Full review

4. Fatherhood

Fatherhood is the state of being a father. A person enters fatherhood when they become a father. This most commonly happens when their child is born, but it can also happen through adoption or by marrying or becoming a partner to someone with children. Fatherhood is a gender-specific version of the term parenthood.

A father brings up his baby girl as a single dad after the unexpected death of his wife who died a day after their daughter’s birth.

Hart and Paul Weitz prove to be the power couple no one saw coming, delivering a film about what it means to be a father that’s heartbreaking, heartwarming, and genuinely funny. Full review

5. Legacy of Lies

A former MI6 agent teams up with a Ukrainian journalist to uncover the truth behind Russian covert operations.

What happened at the end of legacy of lies?

Egor gets shot and killed. Red Star is shot in the back by a sniper and then again by another shooter.

Martin returns fire belatedly and then runs to get a better vantage point to kill the sniper. He calls to his team, wanting to know where his back up is.

As a massive Adkins fan I can’t help but feel overwhelmed by the slew of sub-par or mediocre outpour of films coming from him of the late. Legacy of Lies continue this trend of being a pretty generic and at times boring action flick.

First of the film is a political thriller more so than a action film, which would have been all fine and good if the thriller aspect was intriguing.

But sadly its your typical affair of retired agent being forced back into the espionage world in order to save his kidnapped daughter with some double crossing and something about some important Russian files.

Predictable pretty much sums up the film and that is a major problem for a thriller.

The other aspects such as character development is also cliched ridden and the Adkins father relationship with his daughter never feels fully realised to make it feel genuine or even make you care.

So without the story to engage the audience then one would hope the action can elevate the films shortcomings. Sadly that’s not the case, fights are few and far between.

Handling action is Tim Man and he has proven that he’s capable of delivering, Legacy of Lies does show some competent choreography but it does start feeling like things we’ve seen many times before.

To count you are looking at 2 actual fights and snippets of scuffles here and there. The highlight is probably a fight with Adkins and stuntman Leon Sua, which is competent but nothing to make the proceedings worthwhile.

The finale is also is lacklustre with the film speedingly coming to a weak conclusion and no action to speak of.

Now the positive is the film is slick and for a B movie the cinematography is great, with some impressive lighting. The live locations also help to serve an otherwise weak story.

I really wanted to like this but this is a sad case of another long line of Adkin films that fail to deliver.

6. Fear Street Part One: 1994

After a series of brutal slayings, a teen and her friends take on an evil force that’s plagued their notorious town for centuries.

This is a teen slasher homage and parody that tries way too hard. “Fear Street Part One: 1994” is a movie that really wants you to know that it’s set during the 1990s. Full review

7. The Rundown

Beck, a bounty hunter, visits the Amazon jungle to bring home his boss’s son, Travis. Soon, they find themselves in danger as local goons wish to acquire the priceless artefact in their possession.

Why was Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Rundown?

As you may have heard, Arnold Schwarzenegger visited the set of The Rock’s The Rundown before he announced he was running for Governor of California. But how did Arnold end up in the film as well? Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson tells us how it went down. “He said he was in the area and he wanted to stop by and have lunch.

The Rock plays an L.A. bounty hunter sent into the Amazon jungle to retrieve a young fortune-seeker. Soon the hunter becomes the hunted in this wild action comedy. Full review

Nicolas Cage has a secret. He can see two minutes into the future. But can he see enough to rescue his girlfriend and save the lives of 8 million people? Full review

9. Warcraft

A few human survivors must team up with a group of dissenting Orcs to stop an Orc horde from invading their planet through a magic portal.

Disinterested, disengaged storytelling, stale dialogue, and an overuse of familiar visual effects add up to a forgettable big-screen rendition of the beloved video game. Full review

10. Haseen Dillruba

Under investigation as a suspect in her husband’s murder, a woman reveals details of their thorny marriage that seem to only further blur the truth.

HASEEN DILLRUBA features some fine performances but an unconvincing narrative and a disappointing climax spoils the show. Full review
